Capital One Rewards Checking Bonus - 40,000 Miles - Branch Only

Capital One is offering 40,000 bonus miles after your first direct deposit. According to Capital One, this is enough for $400 in gift cards.

This promotion isn't listed on Capital One's website. This is from a promotion flyer. The SD member gezzuzz posted on this promotion in this SD thread. There's a scan of the flyer in the comments of that thread.

It's only available at Capital One's branches. Online accounts do not qualify.

The promo code is RM4

It's scheduled to end on 3/31/2011

Note, Capital One's Reward Checking account isn't a high-yield reward checking account.

Also note that readers have reported problems in receiving the bonus from similar past Capital One promotions. In some past cases, the branch required that your name had been printed on the offer.

It sounded too good to be true, but OTOH AmEx has been offering some excellent mileage deals, so I passed this along to a friend. When he visited his CapOne branch in TX with a copy of the flyer as shown on SD, the assistant manager was surprised as he was not familiar with the promo. He checked with the Operations area while my friend was in his office and was told that the promo code cited in the document is NOT a valid promotion and is not in their active promotion database.
