Scared!!! Just Completed Applicaton

1st Mariner Bank (1 stars)
So, I just signed up for a new acct depositing my $50 BEFORE reading all of the reviews.  I too am in Chex Systems from mistakes in my past but was trying to stert fresh with a new account.  Is there anyway to reverse the deposit since it was JUST done? Or, what action should I take to ensure my deposit won't be held in the case of my application denial?

Thanks!

I went with First Mariner some time back. I asked them about those reviews, and they assured me that was not quite accurate and that what was happening was fixed/changed. They told me I could know right then and there on the phone whether I was approved or not -- and they told me I was appproved. I presume you did not ask, and maybe they did it immediately rather than let it sit on someone's desk simply because I asked.

My account was open that very same day.

But regardless, they are merely running a check -- you won't lose your money if they reject you, they will just return it. And at this point, I don't know of any bank that does not run such a check before opening a checking account.

I note, it can take quite some time for them to open larger accounts. I don't know what it is exactly, but they must be under some kind of restriction for they are limited as to how much they can send for over the ACH in any one day. (Actually, maybe it isn't the ACH but how much they can accept in deposits in any day). It took them a couple weeks to get my CD funded -- but I was credited interest from the day I was on the phone with them opening it even though they left the money in my external account for a couple weeks. They alerted me to that -- I think because I asked about it a day or two later.
