5 Year Cd Rate

The 5 year cd rate just changed today to 3.0% APY

As of April 8, the MCU website still shows a rate of 3.25% for the 5-year CD.

The rate has now been changed to the 3.0% for a 5 year cd on their website.

Thanks for the heads up on the rate change. When I called this morning, I was told they have an outside company to update their website so that's the reason for the delay.

I just did a new blog post on these rates. Even with the cuts, they're still very competitive.

The Montauk 5 year cd rate will change effective next Thursday-if it goes up, it could be the highest in the country for anyone to join without having to go into the bank.

Sabre82af, thanks for the info. It would be nice if they do raise their rates next Thursday.

About membership, did Montauk recently allow you to join by mailing the membership application?

I noticed on Montauk's application page, they have the following in bold: "New member accounts must be opened in person". Perhaps they make exceptions every now and then?

As of today you can still sign up online and mail a check in for a cd.

When you say "sign up online", do you mean printing out the pdf application and mailing it in?

Yes that was how I did it 3 months ago. THE 5 YEAR CD RATE REMAINS THE SAME AT 3.0%
