JPMorgan Chase Ends Experiment With $5 ATM Fees

JPMorgan Chase said Monday it has finished testing $4 and $5 ATM fees for non-customers in two states [Texas and Illinois], and it is now going back to the $3 fees it previously charged.

Note, this was the charge for non-customers who used Chase ATMs. It looks like too many people refused to tolerate such a high ATM charge and just walked to another ATM.

Just think if there weren't any non-customers of Chase, or other mega-banks, who used their ATMs. Perhaps some of these banks would go the route of other institutions, like Ally, who refund fees imposed when using non-customer ATMs of the competition.

JP Morgan sucks. Before JP Morgan took over Chase, Chase was the one bank that allowed ALL users, no matter their bank, to use their ATMs with no surcharge. Now, JP Morgan not only wants a surcharge, they want $5!
