Service Allows You To Pay More Bills With Credit Cards

Haven't been able to pay your utility or mortgage bills with your credit card? Utilities often don't accept credit card payments so you typically have to mail a check, use online bill pay or have them debit your checking account. The service ChargeSmart allows you to use your credit card to pay for these things. The catch is that the service charges a fee which will pretty much ruin any cash back rewards that you may get.

This NYT Bucks blog post reports that many people still use this service. Perhaps it's to delay when they have to pay.

If you only care about credit card cash back, there may be an opportunity this summer. According to the post:
Meantime, he said, the site is offering incentives to continue to attract new users. This summer, for instance, Discover will pay all ChargeSmart user fees for its cardholders for a fixed period of time, as part of a promotion.
