Review Of A CD Which Has One Of The Highest Rates In The Nation

Monday, June 6, 2011 - 6:00 PMSecurity Service Federal Credit Union - Details
In this May post I reviewed Security Services FCU and its very competitive CD rates. The highest is its 7-year CD which has a 3.50% APY for a $100K minimum. Allan Roth just wrote about his experience with this credit union and why he thinks this CD is such a good deal.

Ken,

Allan indicates that there are many ways to join the CU without living in Texas or Colorado. I am not aware of the other ways of joining. Do you know what he is referring to?

Looking at SSFCU's latest membership page, it appears they have made it more difficult to join if you're not in Texas or Colorado. They have some associations that people can join to qualify for credit union membership. However, they also require that the association members live in specific counties.

The restrictions on where one resides in Texas is pretty specific with SSFCU. That's why I joined Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union instead.
