Quote: "Most couples have two incomes and shared economies of expenses," says Brian Pon, an adviser with offices in Berkeley and Corte Madera, Calif. In contrast, "for single savers, the responsibility of saving falls squarely on themselves."

I beg to differ.  I know of many couples (including myself) who live on single income while one spouse taking care of the family-related matters.  It is a good arrangement that only one needs to take the stress from work.

Most advices given for "older singles" are exactly the same as "older couple", or "younger couple", or "younger single."  The next one can write is "Saving Strategies for Older Men", ... endless and sort of meaningless.
