Discriminates Against Wounded Soldiers - Disabled Vets- Dont Waste Your Time They Wont Take You!

Navy Federal Credit Union (1 stars)
I can't believe that this company will not accept veterns due to their short term. You must be active or retired from military. So too bad for our troops that come back with missing arms and legs. They are discriminated against. So tell me how a guy coming back disabled can possibly continue their career when they are disabled?
Just a tyical bank using Navy in it's name trying to pretend they care about our military.

Wouldn't a disabled vet either be active or retired. Is their another category?

Yes, lou, there is another category - "separated"

"active" is just like it sounds, you are on duty in the military

"retired" does not just mean you used to be in the military, it means you served a full career (20+ years) and then left.

all others who served less than 20 years are "separated" not "retired" even if they have an honorable discharge.

Let me add that I can't understand them not taking separated service members since other large military banks do, like USAA or PenFed who takes anyone whether military connection or not. It does seem strange.

We just want to take a moment to say at Navy Federal we take pride in serving the military. Like all credit unions, we are limited to our field of membership regulated by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Our field of membership includes all DoD personnel and their immediate family members (including all military and civilian personnel of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force, active duty and reservists, DoD civilians, and National Guard members).  If you are unsure about your eligibility, please gives us a call at 1-888-842-6328 or visit us at https://www.navyfederal.org.

Donovan,

Navy Federal can change its NCUA field of membership if it wants to. The fact is, it doesn't want to. Why not?
