Bank Does The Opposite Of Bank Of America By Giving $5 Per Month

Community Bank in the Tampa metro area is the latest small bank to come out with a marketing campaign to win over Bank of America customers who don't want the $5 per month debit card fee. Community Bank came out with a checking account promotion that rewards customers $5 per month. MarketWatch just did a report of this promotion.

For customers, it's not as attractive as it sounds since the $5 monthly reward only lasts for one year. So it's essentially a $60 bonus for opening a checking account and establishing direct deposit. You often can find checking account bonuses more than twice that amount.

Even though this promotion is far from a hot deal, it was successful in terms of marketing.
