Warning - Converting To A Bank
Technology Credit Union
(1 stars)This CU is converting to a bank, which is not in the best interests of the members.
There is has been a link buried at the bottom of their website for several days. Their webpage has some content that is not secure -- so the bank conversion notice is hidden under Internet Explorer's "Only secure content is displayed" banner at the bottom of the page. https://www.techcu.com/
Their email newsletter today doesn't mention the bank conversion.

I was near a TechCU branch the other day, so I stopped in and asked about the conversion to a bank. They said that it was stilll on, so I closed my account and left with a check. Their rates have been terrible for years anyhow.
They have even further hidden the info on their website. If you put "charter" or "mutual" in the search window, an item with this title comes up in the list
"September 27, 2006 - Notice of Consideration to Convert from a Credit Union Charter ... San Jose, California, is considering asking its members to approve a charter change from a ..."
The actual notice includes this
"Before the Board adopts any charter change proposal, we invite written comments from our members. Please send your comments to Technology Credit Union, 2010 N. 1st Street, San Jose, California, 95131, Attention: Board of Directors c/o Charter Change. Comments may also be submitted by sending a fax to Board of Directors c/o Charter Change at (408) 453-0741 or an e-mail to charterchange@techcu.com with "Charter Change" in the SUBJECT box. All comments must be received before October 29, 2011...
Why is the title of the file: "September 27, 2006" when it asks for comments by October 29, 2011?
Cute.
