Crooks Prey On Unsuspecting Credit Card Customers

Monday, November 28, 2011 - 3:07 PM
From Time MoneyLand Blog
Could your account information be at risk? “When you hand over your card to a machine or a person, someone can copy the information,” says security expert Chris E. McGoey. In two recent cases, that’s exactly what happened.

One of the cases where fraud was committed, the crooks had an insider at a restaurant who skimmed credit card information. I avoid using debit cards at restaurants where waitresses take the cards out of sight.

This type of fraud is getting more common at restaurants.  I don't use any type of card when dining out any more.  Straight cash, that's all.
