You might be worrying too much about hurting your credit score. This Time Moneyland article reviews 5 things that won't hurt your FICO score. Here's an excerpt of one:
if you revolve a small balance in relation to your credit limit, you’re not doing yourself any favors by forking over interest to the credit card company, but your score won’t suffer.

We just saw our credit score today and it was on the highest line.  However, it stated they could not give us a higher score because we don't have a "revolving account" and don't charge enough on our card!  I think they are ticked off because we pay our card off fully each month and they can't make any money off of us.  We do charge our higher purchases so we have no idea what they mean.
