But buyer beware. If it's too good to be true, well then it usually is. Got a great rate, however, never told I had to direct deposit my "entire payroll check", and was not told there was a $39/month fee for Life and Disability insurance. I have never heard of such a fee for insurance, particularly when I already have this type of coverage thru my employment and a full auto insurance policy. If this is typical of Service Credit Unions practices, I am truly sorry for all the military people being misinformed and charged these riduculous charges. Non profit, yea right. Picking up where BOA left off. I'm outta there. I will be checking with the NH State Banking commission on these practices.

I work for Service Credit Union and I'm sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations.

If you are in the USA, please call us at 800-936-7730 and we can take that Life and Disability insurance off. The fee is based on your outstanding balance and it is completely optional. We can refund the money you paid for it if you were unaware of the add-on. The person that closed your loan should have informed you about this optional coverage.

I am unsure about the "entire payroll check" comment -- if you have direct deposit with us you are eligible for a rate reduction on your loan.

For many benefits you do have to have full direct deposit with us -- for example in order to get a monthly rebate of ATM surcharges and foreign transaction fees.
