A Drive To Bring Back Paper Savings Bonds Languishes Online
Online petitions are rarely as successful as the Bank of America debit card fee petition that became famous last year. This NYT Bucks blog article reviews an online petition that may be of interest to savers. Unfortunately, it has received very few signatures.
The result is that about a month ago, Mr. Prosser created a petition on Change.org, the site that played a role, for instance, in changing practices at big banks that had been planning to charge fees for debit-card use.I think it makes more sense to push for a return of the pre-2008 savings bond purchase limits.

But while some 300,000 people signed the petition asking Bank of America to abandon its fee plan, just 128 people so far have supported the savings bond petition.
