The WSJ article is interesting but if one wants to see how low interest rates are affecting the regular saver, you might want to read some of the sad notes put on by signers of the Petition.  These are real people who spent their lives saving for what they thought would be a beneficial retirement and now they can't get enough interest income to have the kind of retirement they had planned.  This is a very sad day in our economical history, imo.
