You shouldn't hesitate to open an account with Alliant CU...they are terrific...Sure they just dropped the rate..Haven't you noticed a general down trending of rates by many other banks and cu's lately? Are you aware that they had kept the 2% rate for 8 months straight? Way beyond just about any other bank or cu did?
Alliant Cu has a long term reputation for maintaining the highest rates possible for their members...so if they had to drop it at this time, i am sure it was for good reason...And they offer lots of great services also..like 80,000 surcharge free atm coverage nationwide, and high interest on their Checking accounts and Cds as well...Not to mention outstanding Customer Service...You can even scan check deposits to them...They make a great Cu to do your day to day banking with, not just a place to park savings...
So, before you "write them off"..take a good hard look at them...and also read the Alliant CU thread of Fat Waller Forums Finance section....
