Avoiding ATM, Credit Card and Debit Card Fees When Traveling

Friday, March 19, 2010 - 7:57 AM
This MintLife Blog article has some useful tips about avoiding fees from your credit card company and your bank when you're traveling.

This resource from FlyerGuide is also useful for those planning to travel outside the US. It includes a table of foreign transaction fees for debit and credit cards from several banks and credit unions.

The flyerguide resource is quite informative. Thank you for the post and the link! Incidentally, I can confirm what it says about Charles Schwab Bank not always automatically reimbursing ATM-owner fees in foreign countries (in my case, when I used my Schwab Bank debit card in Canada). After waiting about two months, I called and was told by the CSR that the CAN $1.50 fee would be reimbursed, but no credit to my account ever materialized.
