Free ATM Withdrawals at Any US ATM

If you don't have much savings, free ATM transactions may be more important for you than a high interest rate. A reader emailed me info on Burke and Herbert Bank and its free ATMs. Its Convenient Checking Account has no monthly fees and offers fee-free ATM transactions at any ATM in the US. It's based in Northern Virginia. There's also an online application.

It's hard to beat Ally Bank's interest checking account. It not only refunds other banks' ATM surcharges, but it also has no monthly fees, offers free checks and even pays.

Besides interest rates, what checking account features are important to you?

One of the most important features in a checking account for me is billpay. How user friendly is it? Does it have everything it needs to have? One reason I don't use my new Ally checking account is the fact they don't offer a future view in the register that takes into account scheduled billpays (a must for me).

USAA Federal savings bank also refunds ATM fees up to $15 a month. They also have cool features like deposit@home which lets you deposit a check by scanning it! They are also rock solid and didnt take any bailout funds
