Update 5/1/10: The hot 10-month and 17-month CD specials have ended.

On Sunday I reported on two very competitive CD specials at North American Savings Bank. I noted its online application, but it wasn't clear if anyone could apply for these special CDs. I sent the bank an email, and I received a reply today saying that anyone can apply online. Please refer to my Sunday post for the full details.

The on-line application does not have the speicals listed. According the the CSR you just check off 12 month CD and after you complete the appliccation, you send them an e-mail and instruct them on what Speical you want and they will match it to yor application.

I was told the same as anonymous #1 by the CSR on online chat when I was applying this morning. Hopefully, everything will do with no hitches. Ken, thanks for finding this.

I tried to open an account online but couldn't as it allows ONLY US CITIZENS to open an account online. I chatted with CSR online and he said that they won't accept applications from Non-US Citizens. Though I have a green card and still I can't open an account with them. Why is this discrimination for green card or other visa holders? I have several accounts with various banks they never discriminated like this.

Applied for 17-month special CD on Tuesday, funds were deposited by Thursday, and enrolled in online banking today. Everything went seamlessly, no errors, no problems. Again, thanks for Ken for finding this promotion!

Could these hot rates have anything to do with NASB firing their auditor (KPMG) over the valuation on a Platte City real eatate project (Seven Bridges) in which NASB is 1/2 partner to the tune of 18 to 20 million dollars. Of course the CDs have the full faith and credit backing of the US gov. money printing presses. I love the Internet for research! Never forget that interest rates reflect the risk tied to the money being loaned.
