Peer-to-Peer Lending Sites Receive New Funding

Thursday, April 22, 2010 - 12:52 PM
From VentureBeat
Prosper, one of the first peer-to-peer lending companies, today announced it a fourth round of funding for $14.5 million led by TomorrowVentures, the firm financed by Google chief executive Eric Schmidt, and CompuCredit Holdings.
The article also mentioned Lending Club:
Just this week, competing peer-to-peer lending company Lending Club secured a third round of funding for $25 million. It has raised $53 million in total.
Is peer-to-peer lending the future of banking? Or is the lack of it being 100% risk free for lenders a major roadblock?
