Researching the Real Returns That Can Be Expected at Lending Club

Jonathan at MyMoneyBlog has a done some good research into the historical returns from Lending Club, the popular person-to-person lending service. Here's an excerpt from his summary:

this data supports my opinion that the advertised 9.6% return is not something that you should expect. The oldest loans average an mere 2-4% annual return.

I ask again -- why does a blog on conservative investing via government insured accounts have posts on peer to peer lending? PPL is in an entirely different risk category!!!!
