Remmember-- you have to invest 50k to get the good rate, and it's at risk even though you are getting just a tad more than you can get in a good insured account like Alliant CU -- about $100 a year, pre tax, on 50k. Doesn't seem to be worth it. Companies with relatively high credit ratings have indeed failed, and remember that even if you get your money out before bankruptcy is declared, under some circumstances there can be a 'clawback.' [I don't know if that would apply to individual investors or not.]
