Understanding 529s [MintLife]

In addition to an overview of 529 plans, this MintLife article has a good suggestion for those who prefer to save with certificates of deposit:

Conservative investors should consider the Montana 529, which lets you invest in a CD whose interest rate is pegged to the tuition and fees inflation rate at private colleges. You can’t lose principal, and if average tuition skyrockets, so do your earnings.

"Pacific Life has determined that it will not renew its participation in the Montana Family Education Savings Program (MFESP), which is set to expire at the beginning of June 2011.
