Update 2/10/2010: Velocity has changed its mind and is longer switching to ASI (see news).

Velocity Credit Union continues to offer a 2.02% APY 15-month CD special. It recently extended the promotion to last through February. Refer to my blog post for more details. I wonder if the deposit insurance change is making it harder for them to attract deposits.

For the record, Velocity has opted to stay with NCUA for it's deposit insurance. A letter to Velocity members has been mailed and it is currently posted on their website at www.velocitycu.com There is also a story in today's Austin American-Statesman (www.statesman.com).
