Why Life Insurance Is Not an Investment [NYT]

Once we are clear about the purpose, buying the right kind of life insurance becomes much easier. Most of us don’t need a variable life insurance policy that also acts like an investment. We have investments for that.

Life insurance is not a true investment vehicle.  it is meant to leave tax free money to heirs when you die.  if it is considered an investment, it is for the survivors to use after your death and not for the benefit of the original owner who opened the account.
