Alabama 1st Capital Credit Union (soon to be Alabama One CU) is offering two competitive certificate specials: 3.03% APY for 13 months and 2.52% APY for 7 months. Minimum deposit is $1,000. These rates are listed in the credit union's rate sheet as of 5/21/09 (click on the Account Disclosure and Fee Schedule link at the credit union's rates page). The rate sheet has a 4/23/09 date so these specials may not last much longer.

Branches are located in Tuscaloosa and Mt. Vernon, Alabama.

The credit union's ratings for safety and soundness are a little weak: 3 stars (adequate) at BauerFinancial and 2 stars (below peer group) at Bankrate.com. Both ratings are based on 12/31/08 financial data. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 63295).
