Alliance Credit Union (Alliance CU) recently raised the rate on its 48-month Share Certificate (2.00% APY). The minimum opening deposit is $500, with no stated balance cap.
|2.50%||$500||-||Alliance Credit Union (CA)||48 Month Share Certificate|
|2.50%||$500||-||Alliance Credit Union (CA)||48 Month IRA (Traditional, Roth, CESA)|
The 48-month Share Certificate is also available as an IRA (Traditional, Roth, and CESA), earning the same APY with the same funding requirements.
The current 2.00% APY is the highest rate the 48-month Share Certificate has experienced, since it became a part of Alliance CU’s product line in February 2011.
According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty (EWP) is 180 days interest.
Commentary - While the Truth In Savings Disclosure and Agreement is prominently featured on Alliance CU’s website, I was disappointed to see this entry for EWP on Share Certificates.
For more detailed information, please refer to the separate Share Certificate
Account Agreement and Disclosure which accompanies this disclosure.
I then read all nine of the informational documents attached to the online application, none of which contained the “Share Certificate Account Agreement and Disclosure” or the EWP information I was seeking. Stepping off my soap-box now.
