AmeriCU (NY) Raises Rates On All 12-23 Month CDs

Availability: Residents of the New York counties of Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego, and portions of Oneida County.

Last week, AmeriCU Credit Union (AmeriCU) raised the rates on all iterations of its 12-23 month Share Certificate (Regular and Jumbo), ranging from 1.30% APY to 1.55% APY. These new rates are the highest for the 12-23 month Share Certificates in five years.

The minimum deposit for Regular Share Certificates is $1k, with Jumbo Certificates requiring a $100k minimum deposit.

AmeriCU’s Share Certificates are tiered into four MemberPlus levels (Core, Flex/Connect, Connect Plus, and Partner), with APYs increasing by approximately five basis points per level.

AmeriCU automatically qualifies Member accounts for the appropriate MemberPlus level.
The products contributing to the total account balances are: savings, checking, money
market savings, certificates, auto loans, signature loans and mortgage loans
including home equity loans and lines of credit and first mortgages.

The 12-23 Month Regular Share Certificates are also available as IRAs (Traditional, Roth, and CESA) earning the same tiered APYs, with the same funding requirements.

As stated in AmeriCU’s Truth in Savings document (attached to the online application), the Early Withdrawal Penalty reads as follows:

For accounts with terms longer than 12 months, the amount of early withdrawal penalty for your account is all accrued dividends up to 180 days' dividends but not less than seven (7) days' dividends.

Headquartered in Rome, New York, AmeriCU Credit Union offers membership to individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in the New York counties of Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego. Competitive CD and IRA CD Rates at AmeriCU in New York - Local Only

AmeriCU Credit Union is offering several top CD and IRA CD rates, but there's a catch. The highest rates require the partner relationship. If you meet this requirement, you can qualify for a CD yield close to 3.00%. Some of the best CD rates include 2.98% APY for 5 years, 2.63% APY for 4 years and 2.38% APY for 3 years. Without any relationship, the rates are 50 basis points lower. These rates are listed in the credit union's rates sheet as of 11/16/2011.

Competitive Long-Term CD and IRA CD Rates at AmeriCU in NY

AmeriCU Credit Union is offering a competitive rates for its long-term CDs and IRA CDs. These include a 3.05% APY 5-year CD, a 2.70% APY 4-year CD and a 2.40% APY 3-year CD. Minimum deposit is $500. These rates are listed in the credit union's rates page as of 9/21/2010.
