Bank of Oak Ridge has some competitive rates on its CD promotion. These include a 4.15% APY 8-month CD and a 4.40% APY 13-month CD. The minimum deposit is $10,000. These rates are also available with a $1,000 minimum with a checking account. Rates are 5 basis points higher for business CDs.

It appears that a branch visit may be required to open an account. Branches are located in the North Carolina cities of Greensboro, Oak Ridge and Summerfield.

The bank has fair financial ratings: 3 stars (performing) at Bankrate.com and 4 stars (excellent) at BauerFinancial. Both are based on 3/31/08 data. The bank has been FDIC insured since 2000 (FDIC Certificate # 35365).

The Bank of Oak Ridge is offering a 10% APY 7-month certificate of deposit. The minimum/maximum is $500/$2,000. It requires both a checking account and a New Leaf Savings Account. There's a limit of one CD per person or household. This special is not listed at the bank's website. It was advertised in the following press release.
