Top 2-Year CD Rate at California Community Bank - Local Only

California is another state where it's hard to find top CD rates. I'm always on the lookout for a bank or credit union in a large populated area of California with at least moderately competitive rates. I came across one today at California Community Bank in Southern California. Its most competitive CD is the 2-year CD with a 1.56% APY. Some of other moderately competitive rates include a 2.43% APY 5-year CD and a 1.26% APY 18-month CD. Minimum deposit is $2,500. They also list Jumbo CD rates, but they aren't any higher. These rates are listed at the bank's rates page as of 8/11/2011.

It appears that a branch visit is required. California Community Bank branches are located in San Diego, Vista, Encinitas and Escondido.

The bank has an overall health score at of 3 stars (out of 5) with a Texas Ratio of 18.28% (average) based on March 2011 data. Please refer to our financial overview of California Community Bank for more details. The bank has been a FDIC member since 2003 (FDIC Certificate # 57533).

How These CD Rates Compare

The best 2-year CD rate that's nationally available is 1.77% APY at Self-Help Credit Union. For a bank, the best nationally available rate is much lower: 1.50% APY at CNB Bank Direct and at Airbanking (division of MainStreet Bank). These rates are accurate as of 8/11/2011.
