Cattaraugus County Bank Opens Up Its High-Yield Reward Checking Account
Update 11/09/2010: The bank has changed its policy and is now restricting applications to its market area (parts of New York State).
I first reported on Cattaraugus County Bank's high-yield reward checking account in July 2009 (see review). After more than a year, the rate has held at 3.25% APY for balances up to $25,000. The bank now has an online application at CheckingFinder.com. The link to this application is located at the bank's micro website, ccbmax.com. I emailed the bank to find out who is eligible to open this account. Here is an excerpt of the reply I received:
Geography is not a disqualifying factor. So no matter your address, I encourage you to go to www.CCBmax.com.
Please note that it's a small bank with only $164 million in assets so its current availability policy may not last.
For nationwide reward checking accounts with a $25K cap, a 3.25% APY comes in fourth place behind Westfield Bank's 3.50% APY and Coulee Bank's 3.33% APY and HCSB Bank's 3.26% APY. Even though Cattaraugus County Bank comes in only fourth, it's always nice to have a new nationwide reward checking account.
