5.15% 50-Month CD at Central State Credit Union in California
Post a Comment
Central State Credit Union continues to offer some attractive special certificate rates as of 11/18/08. The rates have gone down since my last post, but they still remain competitive. These include a 5.15% APY 50-month certificate and a 4.00% APY 14-month certificate. The minimum deposit is $10,000. The special is for current checking account holders or members who open a checking account with direct deposit.
The credit union continues to offer a decent new-member special with a 7.00% APY for a 12-month term. The maximum deposit is $2,500. Only one certificate is allowed per new member. With the max deposit of $2,500, you'll earn about $75 more than a 4% 12-month CD.
Membership is open to those who live, work or worship in San Joaquin or Calaveras County, California. Please see their Membership page for the full details. Membership requires a $5 fee and a minimum $5 deposit in the savings account.
Branches are located in cities of Stockton, Lodi, San Andreas and Angels Camp.
The Central State Credit Union has some decent financial ratings for soundness: 4 stars (excellent) at BauerFinancial and 3 stars (performing) at Bankrate.com. Both are based on 6/30/08 data. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 60363).
