Post a Comment
CenTrust Bank is offering two competitive CD specials: a 2.35% APY 180-day CD and a 2.50% APY 12-month CD. Minimum deposit is $500 ($1,000 for a business account). The small print of the promotion page states that New Charter Accounts receive 0.25% higher rate. Details of the Charter Account requirements are listed on its website. These rates are listed in the bank's promotional page (pdf) as of 5/27/09.
The bank also has competitve tiered rates on its money market account: 2.50% APY over $100K, 2.25% APY $50K to $100K, 1.75% APY $10K to $50K and 0.75% $1K to $10K. These rates are listed in the bank's promotional page (pdf) as of 5/27/09.
In previous specials from this bank, a branch visit was required. So I would assume the same holds for these specials. The bank is located in Northbrook, Illinois which is in the northern suburbs of Chicago.
It's a fairly new bank that was established in 2006. Its financial ratings for soundness are a little weak: 2 stars (problematic) at BauerFinancial and 1 star (lowest) at Bankrate. Both are based on 12/31/08 data. The bank is FDIC insured (FDIC Certificate # 58158).
