Last September, Citadel raised the rates on these same long-term CDs, and those increased rates last approximately four months.

Credit Union Overview

Citadel has an overall health grade of "A" at DepositAccounts.com, with a Texas ratio of 3.00% (excellent) based on June 30, 2015 data. In the past year, Citadel has increased its total deposits by $213.19 Million, an excellent annual growth rate of 13.03%. Please refer to our financial overview of Citadel for more details.

Citadel was established in 1937 (NCUA Charter # 2099) as the credit union for Lukens Steel Company. As the story goes, a couple of steel mill workers decided to put a dollar in a tin box every week, and if anyone needed a small loan, they could borrow from the tin box, as long as they agreed to pay it back. From the most humble of beginnings, Citadel has grown into a full-service credit union with more than 160,600 members and assets in excess of $2.2 Billion.

How the CDs Compare

Rather than list comparisons for each CD at each rate tier, I have chosen to compare the highest rate tiers. Therefore, when compared to the 338 similar length-of-term CDs tracked by DepositAccounts.com are available to Pennsylvania residents, Citadel’s 24-Month CD currently ranks third, regardless of minimum deposit.

When compared to the 347 similar length-of-term CDs tracked by DepositAccounts.com are available to Pennsylvania residents, Citadel’s 60-Month CD currently ranks fourth, regardless of minimum deposit.

When compared to the 29 similar length-of-term CDs tracked by DepositAccounts.com are available to Pennsylvania residents, Citadel’s 84-Month CD currently ranks first, regardless of minimum deposit.

The above rates are accurate as of 9/27/2015.
