Citizens National Bank (CNB) has been offering its Rewards Checking account for more than five years. The initial 1.75% APY on qualifying balances up to $25k is still in effect. Qualifying balances greater than $25k earn 0.46% APY, with non-qualifying balances earning 0.05% APY.

The monthly cycle qualification requirements include,

  • At least 12 debit card POS purchases
  • At least one ACH direct deposit or direct debit
  • e-Statement delivery

The Rewards Checking account has no minimum balance requirement or minimum opening deposit. Surprisingly, the $7 monthly service fee cannot be waived. Unlimited checking writing is available and a free debit card will be issued following account opening. All ATM fees will be reimbursed each statement cycle, if qualifying requirements are met. There is a limit of one account per Social Security number.

Headquartered in Sevierville, Tennessee, Citizens National Bank had a brick-and-mortar presence in four East Tennessee counties: Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, and Sevier.

In a Live Chat, CSR stated that the online application is only available to those “who reside in the counties where we have branches or counties touching them.” There are eight “touching” Tennessee counties: Anderson, Blount, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hawkins, Loudon, and Union.

Opening a Rewards Checking account can be done online, or at any of 32 Tennessee branches located in Dandridge, Gatlinburg (2), Jefferson City, Knoxville (2), Kodak (2), Morristown, Pigeon Forge (3), Sevierville (7), Seymour (2), and White Pine.

All CNB branches are open and operating on normal business hours. Our traditional branches are open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CNB’s non-traditional branches are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
