4.70% 24-Month CD at Credit Union of Georgia - Easy Membership

POSTED ON BY

Credit Union of Georgia has just lowered the yield on its special 15-month CD from 4.59% to 4.33% APY. The 12-month special CD yield has also gone down. It's now 4.07% APY. On the plus side, they've added a special 24-month CD which has a very competitive yield of 4.70% APY. The 60-month CD also has a yield of 4.70% APY. The minimum deposit for thse sepcial CDs is $500. The 15-month CD is also available as an IRA CD.

Field of membership includes members of the GettingAhead Association. According to the association's website, "membership is open to any individual who is genuinely committed to improving their own financial well-being." There's a $5 fee to join this association. Employees and students of several select groups can be immediately eligible to join the credit union without joining the association. Membership into the credit union requires a minimum $10 deposit into a savings account. There's a membership application online that must be printed and mailed in along with copies of two forms of ID.

Refer to my post from last week for more details about this credit union.

Branches are located just northwest of Atlanta, Georgia in the cities of Kennesaw, Marietta, Dallas and Woodstock.

Credit Union of Georgia has a 4-star rating (exellent) at BauerFinancial based on 6/30/08 data. Note, it doesn't have a rating at Bankrate. It's likely due to it changing its name and charter. It had been MACO Educators Federal Credit Union. It's federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 68571).

I opened a new CD account with this CU earlier this week. Was well treated and the people were helpful. I would do business again with this credit union. They appear to be on the up and up.

Thanks for the info. Did you open the CD by mail or at a branch?

Did it through the mail. I am over 500 miles away from Georgia. But it was easy through the mail. All the forms I needed were available for download on line, at their website.
