Firefighters Credit Union (WI) Offers Top Rate 18-month CD - Local Only

Residents of Wisconsin counties of Houston, Jackson, LaCrosse, Monroe, Trempealeau, Vernon, and Winona.

Yesterday, Firefighters Credit Union (Wisconsin) raised the rate on its 18-month Share Certificate (CD) to 1.50% APY. The minimum opening deposit is $1K and there is no maximum balance cap. The 18-month CD is also available as an IRA (Traditional, Roth, CESA) at the same APY, with the same funding requirements.

According to CSR, the Early Withdrawal Penalty is 180 days interest, but could not give an indication of how long this APY might last. Considering that Firefighters Credit Union’s two Share Certificate Specials (13-month 1.10% APY and 5-Year 2.10% APY) aren’t as attractive as the 18-month "non-Special," one wonders how long the rate will remain at 1.50% APY.
