Update 11/03/07: The CD special is no longer listed on the website.
Illinois Community Credit Union will be starting a CD special with a yield of 6% APY and a term of 5 months. There's a maximum deposit of $10,000 per household. The minimum deposit is $1,000. An additional 0.10% will be added if the member has an active credit union checking account or Visa. The special certificate starts on Thursday, October 25, 2007.
The $10K cap was just high enough for me to include this special. If you can deposit the maximum in this CD, you'll earn about $40 over what you would make in a 5% CD for the 5 months.
Membership is open to anyone who lives or works within 25 miles of one of their branches. Relatives of members are also eligible. Please see the credit union's membership page for more details.
Branches are located in the Illinois cities of Sycamore, DeKalb, Genoa, Plano and Rochelle. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 61634). It has $44.3 million in assets and 8,196 members.
