There's an online application at the bank's micro-website. However, it states that you are expected to come into a branch to complete the application process. Branches are located in Clinton and Zachary which are in the suburbs of Baton Rouge.

The bank's ratings for safety and soundness are strong: 5 stars (superior) at BauerFinancial and 4 stars (sound) at Bankrate.com. Both ratings are based on 6/30/09 financial data.

The bank has been a FDIC member since 1934 (FDIC Certificate # 307).

Today I phoned the Zachary branch and was told that residents of surrounding parishes are eligible.  I asked specifically about Iberville and was told "yes".  (Zachary is in East Baton Rouge parish.  Later I checked a map and found that EBR does have a short common border with Iberville.)

According to the CSR, in January 2011 the APY will fall to 4.02%.
