Liberty Bank is offering a bonus of up to $125 for opening its Free Checking account online. The details along with a link to the online application are provided at this Liberty Bank promotions page. No expiration date is listed, so I emailed the bank today (8/13/2012), and I confirmed that it's still available. Below are the requirements to receive the full $125:
- Open a Free Checking account with a minimum opening balance of $25
- $25 when you sign up for e-statements
- $25 when you sign up and receive a direct deposit
- $25 when you sign up for Online Bill Pay and pay an online bill
- $25 when you use your check card and sign for your purchase ten times
- $25 when you open your account online
According to the instructions for the online application, choose Free Checking and enter promo code BUILD. Below is a copy of the offer's small print:
To qualify, open a Free Checking account with a minimum opening balance of $25 and meet the bonus requirements within 60 days of account opening. Bonuses will be applied after 60 days to accounts in good standing. One “Build your own bonus” account per household. Not valid with any other promotional offer. Existing Liberty Bank checking account customers are not eligible. A $25 account closing fee may be applied to accounts that close within 12 months.
ATM transactions and PIN-based transactions do not qualify for the ten required check card transactions. Signature-based transactions must exceed $5.
Account must be funded and all required documentation must be submitted and approved to receive the $25 bonus for opening account online - $25 online opening bonus will be applied as soon as these requirements are met.
The first page of the application requires you to select the county where you live. To be eligible you have to reside in one of the counties listed. Most of the counties are in Missouri. There are also a few in Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma.
In addition to the free checking account, Liberty Bank offers a reward checking account called High Interest Checking. My last review of this account was in August 2011. Since that time, the top rate has held at 2.50% APY. However, the balance cap has fallen from $30K to $20K.
