2.70% 6-Month & 12-Month CD at Rock Valley Credit Union in IL - Local Only

Rock Valley Credit Union is offering two very competitive CDs. The best rate requires a minimum deposit of $25,000, and with this minimum the rate is 2.70% APY for a 6-month and 12-month term. For a $10,000 minimum the rate is 2.55% APY for the 12-month and 2.60% APY for the 6-month. These rates are not listed at the credit union's website. A reader emailed me info on these, and I called today (8/17/09) for more details. The CSR said that these rates could change at any time, so make sure to call before visiting a branch.

Membership is available to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the county of Winnebago, Illinois or anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the city of Rochelle, Illinois. Please refer to the credit union's About Us Page for more details. Membership requires a minimum balance of $25 in the share savings account.

The credit union's ratings for safety and soundness are a little weak: 3 stars (adequate) at BauerFinancial and 2 stars (below peer group) at Bankrate.com. Both ratings are based on 3/31/09 financial data.

The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 18944).

well this always happens to me i wanted to have a membership but i am a new yorker.. the features are really awesome and made me jump of my seat while i was reading about the APYs.. thanks for the info i will tell my Illinois friends about this.

Rock Valley Federal Credit Union is having a certificate special with a 5.57% APY 7-month CD and a 5.70% APY 77-month CD. The minimum deposit is $7,000, and new money is required. The offer is available through 7/14/07.
