Offer good on new checking accounts opened August 15 through October 15, 2012. Limit one per household. Cannot have had a Salal checking in prior 6 months. To be eligible for the $100 deposit, the checking account must be open at least 90 days and be in good standing; at least one direct deposit must occur within the initial 90 days. Deposits will be made to eligible accounts in December 2012/January 2013. This special cash offer and ticket value are subject to IRS reporting and will be reflected on your 1099. Available on all consumer checking. For Silver Horizons, the annual percentage yield as of August 1, 2012 is 0.05% for balances of $5,000 to $24,999 and 0.08% for balances of $25,000 and over. Fees could reduce the earnings on the account. A minimum of $25 is required to open a Salal checking.

One thing to note in the small print is that both the cash and the ticket value will be reflected on your 1099. According to the Seattle Great Wheel website, an adult ticket price is $13.

Membership

Unlike most other credit unions, Salal Credit Union doesn't require that you maintain a savings account for membership. Members only need to maintain an open and active account with Salal. Any deposit product such as checking account or any loan that is active and open will qualify.
