Update 2/2/08: The CD rates have fallen. Please check the credit union's website for the latest rates.
Sun Federal Credit Union is offering a 5.33% APY 54-month certificate (see rate table). The minimum deposit for this yield is $75K. This is also availabe as an IRA certficate. A yield of 5.11% APY is available on the regular CD for a $1,000 minimum.
This 54-month certificate has a Raise-Up feature that allows a one-time rate bump during the term to match the current rate. With falling rates, I doubt this will be useful, at least for the next year.
I called the credit union today, and I was told that this rate is still available. The CSR didn't know when the rate would change.
Membership may be available to individuals who live, work, worship or attend school in the Pennsylavnia counties of Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia. There is also a long list of sponsor groups in which you can be eligible to join. Please refer to the credit union's Sponsor Groups page for more details. Membership requires a $5 minimum deposit into your share savings account.
Branches are located in the Ohio cities of Maumee, Oregon, Toledo, and in the Pennsylvania cities of Philadelphia, Radnor and West Lawn. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 7064). It has $294 million in assets and 36,832 members.
