UPDATE 10/23/2015: Same promo available now through November 22, 2015, at new TD Bank branch at 175 Varick Street (NYC, Greenwich Village area).
At the risk of dating myself, I can remember when you went into a bank to open a new account, you walked out with a toaster.
Three newly-opened New York TD Bank, National Association (TD Bank) branches have upped the ante: now through October 18, 2015, when you open a TD Premier Checking account (minimum $2.5K deposit) and a TD Simple Savings account (minimum $300 deposit), you will walk out the door with a $150 Visa Gift Card.
This promotion is available only at these TD Bank branch locations:
- 202 West 23rd Street, New York City
- 4941 Broadway, New York City
- 490 Myrtle Avenue, Brooklyn
The accounts must be opened in person at any of the three participating branches and kept opened for 90 days. If the above mentioned minimum deposits are maintained, monthly fees will be waived.

Note: after a rather extended conversation with a very helpful CSR, I was given the impression that new TD Bank branches have this type of promotion for about a month following their opening. CSR couldn’t say if this was a standard TD Bank protocol, but if a new TD Bank should open near you, it’s definitely worth checking out.
