CD Rates of 2.01% to 4.25% at Universal 1 Credit Union in Ohio - Local Only

Universal 1 Credit Union has a promotion that's scheduled to last through October 2009. It offers an extra 1% on certificate rates for all terms. This results in very competitive rates for all of the credit union's certificates. A list of the rates after the additional percentage point is shown below:
  • 2.01% APY 6 month
  • 2.61% APY 12 month
  • 2.82% APY 18 month
  • 3.12% APY 24 month
  • 3.63% APY 36 month
  • 4.25% APY 60 month
Minimum deposit is $1,000, and new money is required for this promotion. Details of this promotion are described in the credit union's newsletter (pdf). The rates before the 1% increase are listed in the credit union's rates page as of 10/18/09.

The promotion also includes a 1% reduction on many of the credit union's listed loan rates.

Credit union membership is open to any person who lives, works, worships or attends school in one of several cities and counties in southwestern part of Ohio. Refer to the top of the credit union's FAQ page for the full details.

Branches are located in Dayton, Beavercreek, Chillicothe, Kettering, Newark and Sidney, Ohio.

The credit union's ratings for safety and soundness are mixed: 4 stars (excellent) at BauerFinancial and 2 stars (below peer group) at Bankrate.com. Both ratings are based on 6/30/09 financial data. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 64970).

7.77% 7-Month CD at an Ohio CU - $7K Max (Universal 1).
Universal 1 Credit Union is another credit union advertising a 777 certificate special. It's called the Wealth Builder Certificate and it has a yield of 7.77% APY with a term of 7 months. The minimum deposit is $1,000, and the maximum is $7,000. The credit union will accept only the first 700 certificates. The special is available starting on July 7th and lasting through July 14, 2007.
