Westconsin is a very friendly and community based credit union. When I originally signed up with them, it was due to me having such poor credit, that no bank around would even consider letting me open a checking account (which is what my work required to have checks deposited into). Westconsin helped me get a checking account, and has since helped provide me with resources to get my credit boosted to a respectable level. I'm still working on my credit, and they are still helping, but I am about 200 points above where I was when I opened my account with them about 6 years ago. I would strongly recommend this bank to anyone who lives in Western Wisconsin, as they are willing to help and accommodate each situation individually. They go above and beyond what a typical big chain bank would, and I know that first hand.
Westconsin Credit Union has been such a treat to work with in the near 10 years I have been with them. Having dealt with nearly a dozen other banks in my life, they have come out far above any of the rest. I recently got a checking account with them, and they were the only bank willing to work with me to get one. With the poor credit I have, I've had a hard time finding a bank to give me that opportunity, but they didn't hesitate. They set me up with a "foundation checking account"(I believe that's what they called it), which safeguarded them from my poor credit past, all while giving me the opportunity to earn a regular checking account once I maintained a positive balance for a year. Things have been great ever since, and they've helped with every issue I've ran across. Me and my significant other are hoping to buy a house in the next couple years, and we will certainly be going through them for any advice, feedback, and assistance they can provide.
I have used them for awhile, and they are always friendly and helpful. I recently had to go in to have my checking converted from a "simply" checking to regular checking account. They are very friendly, and I've had my checks deposited flawlessly into the savings account I've had for years. I would highly recommend anyone that lives in Western Wisconsin to strongly consider this small town bank. The checking that I currently am using now works great as well, and I can deposit checks into it via a mobile app, which is also a huge perk. I have literally never had an issue in nearly 10 years I've been with them. There drive thru is also seamless, and they are very prompt to address you, as you pull up to the window.
Westconsin Credit Union is based in western Wisconsin, as the name implies. It is a smaller institution, more able to give personable customer service and more able to help the member out with their specify needs. Deposits made have same day availability, which is certainly not the standard anymore. This is absolutely something that sets them apart from the bigger guys and makes them more member friendly. They offer various options for checking accounts with no fees (assuming a certain dollar amount deposits each month), no minimum balance and some even offer interest. The interest is obviously minimal, but hey you're getting a little bit each month to use your checking account as you normally would. They also offer a small selection of cash back options when you use your check card at certain places each month. They have a savings account option for kids with rewards to make saving more fun for little ones.
Hidden fees, they slowly drain your account for inactivity. Also had extremely inappropriate/potentially illegal advice during a home refi application. NOT a member of the coop network!!!! Think twice before doing business with this Credit “union”, they appear by all observations to be out for profit only, not their “members” best interests.
