WestStar Credit Union is offering the Spring into Summer promotion with a 4.00% APY 15-month certificate. The minimum deposit is $500.

This special CD has a yield just a little bit lower than their April CD special. The credit union seems to have some decent CD promotions several times a year.

Membership is primarily based on Select Employer Groups. Companies include those licensed for gaming by the State of Nevada. You can also be eligible if you have a relative who's qualified for membership. Please see their eligibility page for more details. Membership requires a minimum deposit of $25 into the Primary Share Savings Account.

Branches are located in Las Vegas and in Reno, NV. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 68227). It has $188.0 million in assets and 33,099 members.

Update 4/19/08: The CD special has ended.

WestStar Credit Union is offering a special 4.15% APY 15-month term certificate. The minimum deposit is $500.

My last report on this credit union was last September when they were offering a 5.60% CD.

WestStar Credit Union is offering a 5.60% APY 36-month certificate. The minimum deposit is $500. Note, under the rate table, it states that the rates listed are the Full House bonus rates. Without this, the rates are 0.25% less. When I called Weststar last month, I was told that the Full House bonuses are no longer being used, and these rates were available to all members.

The 6% 60-month CD that I mentioned in August post is no longer available.

WestStar Credit Union is offering a 6.25% APY 9-month certificate. The minimum is $25K. For a smaller minimum, you can still get a 6-percent-plus CD: 6.10% APY for a $10K minimum and 6.00% APY for a $500 minimum. Money new to the credit union is required.

The field of membership is limited to select employee groups. These include Gaming companies in Nevada and many others. It doesn't seem to include any organizations in which anyone could join. A minimum of $25 deposit in the primary share account is required for membership.
