5.75% 8-Month CD at a Wisconsin CU (First Service)

First Service Credit Union is offering a special 5.75% APY 8-month share certificate. The minimum deposit is $1,000. There wasn't much info on this in the rate table, so I called the credit union today and was told that the term was 8 months. The only special requirement was that the deposit had to be money new to the credit union. There is no maximum deposit. The CSR said that they expect this special to last to the end of the year.

Membership is open to those residing or employed within Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha Counties, Wisconsin. Please see their membership page for the full details.

Branches are located in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 66984). It has $27.2 million in assets and 5,600 members.

I opened the 8-month CD today. It was a smooth process. 5.75 apy at this momment is about as good as it gets. If you live in the Milwaukee area, I'd suggest taking advantage of this one.

By way of comparison, my current bank (Guaranty) has their CD's at 4%.

It's a no-brainer to go with First Service. The CD deal goes until the end of December.

First Service FCU is offering a February special 5.64% APY 24-month share certificate. The minimum deposit is $1,000.

Field of membership includes all those who live, work, worship or attend school in Franklin County, Ohio. Membership requires a balance of $50 in your share savings account.
