Digg.com has released a new major version, and it now allows us to have a profile page which accepts feeds of our top blog posts.
Our profile page is at digg.com/depositaccount (Profile page name is limited to 14 characters so that's why there's no "s").
Without getting into the details of social media, here are three simple reasons to register at this new Digg:
- Keep updated on our top blog posts
- Keep updated on other news sites and blogs in one place
- Help us increase our visibility by digging (voting) for our posts
This new Digg is easy to use. Just register with an email address, user name and password, and Digg will step you through the setup process. In the setup process, you can choose sites to follow such as CNNMoney.com. When the setup is done, return to our profile page and select the green follow button on the top right.
You can select the "Top News" tab to see the articles popular with the Digg community or you can select "My News" tab to see the articles from the sites you are following. You can also vote (digg) for the articles you like. The more people who digg our articles, the more likely we will show up in the "Top News" section where all Digg readers can find the articles.
If you're used to Twitter, you'll likely notice many similarities. I've seen this new Digg called Twitter for news.
For those who prefer Twitter, we also have a Twitter page at Twitter.com/bankdealsblog. I first set up this Twitter page in May of 2009. We automatically send summaries of all the blog posts and featured forum posts to our Twitter page. For those not familiar with Twitter, you can use it like the new Digg to follow blogs and news sites. All you need to do is to register and select other Twitter users to follow.
