Congratulations indeed.

Very nice to see other media outlets recognize the value of your blog site.

I have been following and beneffited from the your site for several years now. I missed some of the up side of the market by selling out and switching to a laddered CD investment approach a little early but more than made up for it now. My wife and I are retired and sitting financially pretty today with a steady stream of interest income and zero losses.

ipThe rates here seem recent enough but what I am concerned about are CD rates in general. I find it troubling that CD rates are where they are now. I mean look at GMAC’s rates for example… here they are nationally pumping a 12 year CD yielding a rate of under 3% APY. That is astonishing! I haven’t seen rates this low in a long time. My suggestion to anyone investing or considering investing in bank certificates of deposit would be to start a CD ladder so that you can capitalize on the rates over the course of 1 year or even 2 years rather than simply purchasing one CD all at once.

I’ve invested with GMAC and I know they typically offer rates in the top 5% but I gotta say CD’s are over rated right now. If your looking to park your money some where and aren’t interested in going after a CD laddering structure then try gold.

Congratulations on the media recognition! It's much deserved. Banking Guy, we appreciate all you do in empowering us to be savvy depositers. Whether the prevailing interest rate is 6% (Ahh, the good old days) or 3% (and falling quickly), we value your blog for the timely info. We're also grateful for the forum to vent, contribute and occasionally celebrate the little victories.
